Bima Bharosa Portal: Your Regulator-Backed Grievance Route

By Hari Kotian, IRDAI-Certified Insurance Advisor · 2026

File only after the GRO route to avoid bounce-back; attach every document as evidence; write the grievance as a dated timeline; check status weekly with the reference number.

What happens next

The insurer is notified and must respond within 15 days. IRDAI reviews the response, and inadequate replies can be escalated further, including to the Insurance Ombudsman.

Prepare before you file

Policy number, insurer name, claim number, and a clear chronology. Attach the policy copy, rejection letter, correspondence, medical records, and payment receipts - vague complaints are slower.

What Bima Bharosa is

The Integrated Grievance Management System (IGMS), now branded Bima Bharosa, is IRDAI's official portal for policyholder complaints. It is free, official, and carries regulatory weight - insurers respond seriously because IRDAI monitors it.
